4 Reasons Why You NEED a Virtual Assistant in 2020

virtual assistant header

You’ve probably heard by now that you need to hire a virtual assistant, but you might be resisting.

As an independent business owner, it goes without saying that you’re busy. Running a business is no joke! Between managing accounts, handling contracts and payments, booking more clients, AND marketing your services, it’s a miracle that you can even find time to eat – let alone maintain a social life.

Perhaps you’ve been saying to yourself for some time now that this is the life you signed up for. Canceled plans. Late nights. Limited time with your loved ones.

But – does it really have to be this way?

Sure, the entrepreneurial lifestyle comes with its sacrifices. But – do you really have to be busy non-stop to feel like you’re getting anywhere?

If you’re rapidly nodding in agreement right now, I implore you to consider an alternative.

And – bear with me – this might sound a little crazy.

What if you…just…hired a virtual assistant??? 🤯

Whew. There – I said it.

Now that it’s out in the open, I dare you (scratch that, I DOUBLE-DOG dare you) to consider it. Toy with the idea for just a moment.

Imagine it – a world with free time. Time to actually get everything done on your to-do list. Feeling like your talents are fulfilled and your work is impactful and meaningful. Seeing your earnings increase because you’re delegating tasks and focusing on your strengths. Truly living your best personal and professional life.

Ahhh. Does that sound too good to be true to you?

Well, it doesn’t have to be. Let’s break this down.

Why Should I Hire a Virtual Assistant?

A Virtual Assistant Will Save You Time ⏰

Okay – this one is pretty obvious. Hiring a virtual assistant to help you with some of the more menial tasks that simply don’t require your full attention is going to give you back the time you need to focus on the more important stuff.

However, beyond the little tasks that are eating away at your work time (and your patience for that matter), there are lots of other things your VA can help you with to save you time!

For instance, I offer a vast array of services in my virtual assistant business, Calla Lily Co., which you can learn more about HERE. I specialize in online marketing, so I offer services like social media and Pinterest scheduling, blogging, and email list management. Chances are, there probably is someone out there offering services for all of the things that always seem to end up at the bottom of your to-do list.

Which leads me to my next point…

Your Talents are Better Suited Elsewhere 🤩

When you decided to buckle up for the ride of your life and pursue your dreams of becoming a business owner, no one expected you to automatically become a master at everything. Sure, there are a lot of moving parts in any business, and as the sole operator, you probably feel obligated to handle it all.

But I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to wear a gazillion hats to own a business.

For instance, if you’re a florist, you probably decided to open up your own flower shop because you LOVE making floral arrangements. When you decided to go full-time, did that mean you automatically had to become a fabulous bookkeeper too? Of course not!

Everyone has God-given strengths within them. You’re not going to be great at everything. That’s the beauty of delegation and teamwork!

Find someone who is the best in his or her field that can handle the stuff you admittedly suck at. Sucking is okay! (Read that again.) What’s not okay is expecting yourself to hustle 24/7 to the point of exhaustion and existential crises because you’re too proud to ask for help.

Delegate tasks. Conquer the things you’re a rockstar in.

Win clients. Win back your peace of mind. And, most importantly, win back your sense of purpose and fulfillment.

A Virtual Assistant Will Save You Money 💸

Did you know that you’re actually costing your business money when you try to do everything all by your lonesome?

Yeah. It’s true.

By refusing to get help, you spend too much time trying to figure out the things you could easily have someone else do…which results in feeling overwhelmed. Which leads to crying and rocking yourself back and forth on the kitchen floor with a half-drank beer in your hand at 3 AM with no one there to pull you out of your funk.

Who wants that? Not you! You’re better than that!

When you take on too much, you’re not able to tackle the areas where your business is really suffering or opportunities for growth. This stubbornness could be costing you clients!

The simple solution would be to save yourself the trouble and bring in back-up.

Imagine how many more clients you could take on if you felt empowered by knowing your business was right where it needed to be – with you at the helm, ready to take on the world and finally build. that. empire! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

More time → Better ideas → More clients → More MONEYYYYYY!!!

A Virtual Assistant Can Give Your Brand a Facelift Online 💻

Let’s face it. We live in a world where your online presence can make or break your overall success. Scary, right?

That means you cannot afford to ignore how your business appears in a Google search!

There are SO MANY things that go into building an online marketing strategy; everything from social media to blogging to managing your emails, etc. Beware! These tools are NOT just optional accessories to your business that you can get around to whenever you feel like it. We’re living in 2020! Over 88% of consumers will research a brand online before they ever make a purchase. 😱

Sure, you may realize and accept that your online brand is important, but always telling yourself that you’ll “get to it eventually” isn’t going to win you clients, boost your traffic, or pay the bills!

A virtual assistant is perfect for helping you maintain your online brand and top of the mind awareness with your ideal customers – in whatever capacity that looks like for you and your biz.

However, the key to an online marketing strategy is consistency. If you’re pressed for time and already feeling overwhelmed, delegating your online tasks to a VA might be one of the best decisions you ever make for your business.

There’s no shame in asking for a little help. Soooo how do you go about doing that exactly? 👇🏻

How Do I Hire a Virtual Assistant?

If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably wondering HOW to go about hiring one of these magical creatures to handle all the stuff you don’t want to do.

Don’t worry! It’s actually easier than you may think.

This isn’t fully exhaustive, but it’s a good place to start.

  1. Monitor how much time you’re spending actually working.
  2. Assess your budget. Most VAs operating within the United States charge between $20-40 per hour, but it will likely vary depending on the individual’s experience and services. Also, many of them offer packages that will adjust their prices accordingly.
  3. Figure out what kind of services you need help with. There’s an expert out there for EVERYTHING – and I do mean everything.
  4. Alert the Universe that you are hiring! Let your close contacts know, speak to your fellow business friends, and ask for referrals.

At this point, you can either open applications or ask for a trial period to see how the working relationship pans out. This person will be very close to your business – so you want it to be someone you can depend on!

Beyond that, it is up to you to decide how frequently you’ll need help and what you’ll expect your VA to handle moving forward. 😁

So there you have it. There are lots of good reasons to hire an unbiased third party to help out with your business, but it boils down to doing what’s right for you and your venture.

Need help deciding whether or not this is right for you? Drop me a line! I’d love to hear your questions.

Happy delegating!

Hi there! Creating the actual blog was pretty easy with WordPress. I host my site on Showit and then integrated my WP blog from there. If I can do it, you can do it!
